Pompey had a strong defense. However, the cliched penalties did it again. The first trophy of the season with a potential for 6 others, but lets be realistic. Nice seeing the captain back in his role again after sitting out the whole of last season. Great to see the other two old birds of Scholesy and Giggsy lasting the full ninety.
I have to tip my hat to Van der (Man) Sar though. He’s such a solid penalty shot-stopper. He uses every ounce of his experience during such shootouts. He’s so smart in unsettling the opposing taker psychologically in using his presence, body language and delaying-tactics. Clearly, there’s much to learn in football.
And so the reds go marching on, on, on!
