Concert - Coldplay's Viva La Vida Tour
Monday March 23, 2009

Yes, I’m backdating this overdue entry of mine. It’s been over a week and I’m still suffering withdrawal symptoms from the night. With such beautiful and meaningful lyrics, charming heart-felt melodies, catchy sounds, wicked visual light/colour display and overall Chris’s emotive performances, it was quite simply – for the lack of a better word – enlightening.
Sparks, Trouble, In My Place, The Scientist, Fix You, The Hardest Part and Lost! are looping in my itunes while writing this, for a good reason. There’s just something about Coldplay’s music that rings close to the heart. Almost all their songs encompasses varying emotions on life and almost everyone can relate to it. The tens of thousands of fans turning up for their concerts and tours in different cities all over the world is a testament to this.

On the night itself, I wished I went with someone special (actually I did, just not together, so near yet so far). If you thought Mraz’s was awesome, then this was just indescribable. I would gladly throw my money away to see them again if they’re performing anywhere in Asia. As though their music wasn’t spine tingling/chilling and heart-wrenching enough, it was particularly and especially so during Fix You; a song about love, lost and life.
On a personal level, it was a fitting song as it was an uplifting and enlightening one, literally and emotionally. Apparently written for Gweneth, whose dad had passed. She came home after getting the sad news and broke down, Chris embraced her and wrote the song as a consolation for his wife. It’s never easy losing someone you dearly love and care for. But I guess, just like a saying, you haven’t tasted life if you haven’t tasted any kind of loss.
You love, lose, and live. That’s life. Coldplay’s my fix.
It’s time to find my worth. Till we meet again. Thank you.
When you try your best but you don’t succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can’t sleep
Stuck in reverse. And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can’t replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix youAnd high up above or down below
When you’re too in love to let it go
But if you never try you’ll never know
Just what you’re worthLights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
