Glory Glory Man United - Part Two

The Reds are marching in Moscow! In case anyone’s lost, no, not the commies, but the Devils. What a match it was, an encounter which could have seen either team lifted the prestigious trophy. Alas, it got dragged till extra time and penalty which resulted in me having only 2 hours of sleep before going to work. And my goodness what an agonising ordeal that was! Not the lack of sleep mind you but the shootout!

Cristiano Ronaldo the maestro hailed and awarded best player in numerous categories was the hero after the thunderous header goal and then could have easily been the villain too after scuffing his penalty. Thank goodness we have our tall Dutch keeper to thank for. That said, it was a very tough tournament and every player deserves a mentioned and not forgetting Sir Alex himself – arguably the best manager in the world.

Credit to where its due, even with the bitter rivalry, the Blues did put up a good fight in both the premier league race and the battle of Europe. So a rather extremely sweet double over United’s closest rival and what a timely fashion to cap it all off. It was nice to see Giggs got his milestone, a tremendous feat itself. They say great teams sometimes need luck on their side, well what can I say. 50 years after the tragic Munich crash, it couldn’t have just been luck. It was destiny, it was fate.

I guess a valuable life lesson to be learnt here, is that, never give up no matter how high the odds are stack against you. It all boils down to hard work, determination and importantly self-belief. Faith. This is something all Devils and/or non-Devils alike can take home with and apply in our lives. Thank you for the entertaining 2007-2008, Manchester United. This season has been a roller coaster but it was nothing short of magical at the end. Till next season beckons, it’s time to party for the Kings of Europe!
