The Devil's Advocate
Tuesday January 13, 2009

Last night was sweltering! The red devils turned on the heat, played with so much verve and swagger that I found myself fervently punching the air for all the goals. Beating Chelski’s always a sinful pleasure, but burning 3 holes in their net, is utter fucking bliss. Huzzah!
I’ve always reckoned supporting a football (read: I refuse to call it soccer. damn yanks.) team to being in a relationship. Peculiar analogy? Not quite. Cos at times its dandy, jubilation and at others, just sheer fucking frustrations. You just have to soldier on. When the team’s off-form, playing badly, losing matches, dropping vital points to closest rivals, I admit I do feel like taking out that double-barrel and pulling the trigger onto the players and manager. But I still swear, curse and continue to cheer them on ultimately in the following weeks.
There are some who jumps ship the moment their team starts performing badly, there are also those who only ride the winning bandwagon, then there are those good old faithful fools who support and go all the way no matter what. The ball is round, so is a bloody relationship. Ups and downs, wins, losses or draws, champions or not. It don’t matter. I’m a red-blooded devil deep down, am no saint anyways. I’m fiercely loyal to the ones I love, even to my football club. The only difference between football and relationship? It’s a damn one-way thing unfortunately. So yes, that makes me a bigger good old faithful fool.
Times like these, I wished I knew more female football daredevils / supporters.

I don’t think females are designed to appreciate football… If there is one, my bet is that she’s prob just pretending… Though having said that, my own best friend (ya a girl) will support our home team like crazy.

That’s national pride. Totally different from supporting a football club, I guess.
If what you said is indeed true, then I’m pretty much destined, condemned and confined to being alone for eternity. Thank you for bursting my bubble so soon.
