The Right Cause

There are already a couple of well established sites dedicated to promoting Firefox and standards compliant browsers. The reasons are abundance to convert yes, even for us normal consumers but that has already been covered and documented in so many other articles thus I will not touch on that. We now have Get Fireox, Browse Happy and Spread Firefox which ironically are also trying to raise funds to what it seems like a campaign to commercialise the browser even further. Hmm, capitalism vs capitalism?
Those of us who have converted from the evil dictator of our web browsing needs which is IE (Internet Explorer) knows now how much unstable and basically incompetent the browser can be. I just hope Mozilla don’t turn into the next Micro$oft – the money whoring organisation. Mozilla should keep its communistic approach to always remember the first and foremost objective and priority is the consumers, us. It’s not and never about the cash flow nor fighting and toppling Micro$oft / IE – which is a nice idea though.
I hope they will not lose track of what they’re doing with all these raising of funds trying to market the browser but I’m sure they’re still level-headed though. If a product is good (which is btw) naturally people will find out about it one way or another and start using it – true again. Thus personally, I don’t see a need to inject thousands of dollars for a full fledge marketing campaign to win people over. That money in my opinion is much better off channeled to development to boost quality of the browser further.
