Well Done Boys
Monday February 27, 2006

In a match where Wigan Athletic could possibly end the hopes of United winning a single trophy in a roller-coaster season, the pre-match hype was in fact just what it was, a hype. We got two quick breaks and scored at a crucial time after the interval and it killed off the match for the underdogs. Congratulations for the deserved victory.
The victory was largely attributed to Alan Smith, who suffered a freak injury last weekend, and so it was nice to see the gesture by the players wearing the special printed t-shirt. We might be out of contention in the league as we have been very inconsistent. However, hopefully this will be a first step to a much greater success in the future.
For now a job well done boys.

To echo you Khai…Well Done Boys! I really enjoyed the match, especially since we won. Actually I was rather surprised to see some of the Wigan players playing quite badly compared to some of their previous games that I watched. Perhaps the cup final atmopshere got the better of most of the players. One player that I admired, Graham Kavanagh, was a real disappointment in the final.

Yeah I half expected Wigan to really put up a fight in the second half and maybe caved in the last 15 mins or so but 2 strikes after half-time killed it. To be honest, I wanted them to get a consolation to at least make their fans proud but their performance wasn’t on par that night. I thought Gary Teale played very well for them, and sad what happen to Wigan’s keeper. Oh and Ruud seems dissapointed that he wasn’t even used as a sub but I think Saha deserved the first 11 that night. What do you think?

I agree with you about Teale as well as Saha. Poor Saha had been left out after a season of injuries but he is beginning to show his scoring instincts once again. Looking like being back at his best when he was with Fulham. Ruud was understandably disappointed not to play but he seemed happy enough during the celebrations. I think he should be professional enough to accept that the manager selected the players that he thought would be the best for that game. If Saha & Rooney did not score, I am sure Sir Alex would have played Ruud. Well, Mido was left out in the recent African All-Nations Cup but he celebrated the victory as enthusiastically as the rest of the team. These players have to just accept that life’s like that.
